Swine-Flu and Resulting Press Coverage

In September 2009 the school received media coverage when it was found, a total of 21[4] individuals were found to have been infected with Swine-Flu in the residential school premises. The school issued leave to the infected students though, subsequently, the parents of the children, alleged, that the school management were complicit[5][6][7] whereby, delaying testing for swine-flu infection. The distraught parents ultimately organized a "Parents Association, B K Birla Center For Education", they expressed dissatisfaction at the school management, a member said:

During the concluding day functions of the Ganesh festival at the school, we found that many students were coughing. When the administration noticed that the parents were observing it, those students were asked to leave the hall where the rituals were being performed. But, within a week, 17 students have been tested positive for H1N1. It means the administration was hiding the facts
—Member, Parents Association, B K Birla Center For Education, [8]

The association's demanded the management should first remove principal S K Bharadwaj, and then negotiate with them. S K Bharadwaj defended the school position, where he said:

I will not meet parents in a group as per the guidelines of the CBSE. But I am open to meet parents of each student, personally. There is a recognised Parents Teachers Association,' and not a single member of this association has joined the newly-formed body. Hence there is no point in meeting these parents.
—S.K.Bhardwaj, [9]

As of the following academic year, Shri S.K.Bhardwaj was succeed by Dr. Subhash Kumar.
